Discover our different aluminium door types
Choosing the right door for your project is always an important decision. That is why, at Reynaers Aluminium, we gladly help you select the aluminium door that fits your specific project needs. Because the right door opens up to a million of possibilities.
Reynaers Aluminium takes pride in its wide range of high-quality door systems. For each new-build or renovation project, we have got the perfect solution. Whether it is a high-rise or low-rise building; for commercial, public, or private use; with or without additional safety or energy-efficiency needs: we have got you covered. Moreover, all our door solutions come in various opening types and design variants, offer multiple accessory options, and can be personalised to match your unique taste.
No two doors are the same. However, you can distinguish different door types based on the advantages they offer. Your design preferences and the way you intend to use the door also determine which door type is your ideal match. Let us explore some options.
Starting with the basics
The standard variant for all door types is a flush door. The profiles of its vent and frame coincide both on the inside and the outside, creating a clean “flush” look. These robust doors have been designed for long, intense use and are mostly featured as ground floor entrance or egress doors in residential, commercial, or public buildings. They come as single or double doors, inward or outward opening, and can be upgraded to offer you burglar-proof security (up to RC3/PAS24) or additional safety, such as anti-panic or bulletproof protection. High quality and performance guaranteed.
Flush door
- High thermal and weather performance, up to Passive House levels
- Many design options for inside and outside handles
- Barrel hinges, block hinges, or concealed hinges
- Single locks, multipoint locks, or electronic locks
- Reduced threshold or zero threshold, drainage gutter optional
Functionality and performance - where do you intend to use the door, and how?
The basic purpose of any door is to provide safe access to buildings – as opposed to windows, which mainly offer entrance of natural daylight and ventilation. All our door solutions can create this sense of security. However, your choice of door type heavily depends, among other factors, on how you will be using the system on a daily basis.
Hinged door - your all-round entryway
When you want to offer easy access for everyone to enjoy, a standard hinged door will do just fine. This universal solution is often used as entrance or egress door, but it can also function as indoor partitioning. Upgrade your door with concealed hinges, a wide range of handle designs (both inside and outside), or choose access control options like keypads, fingerprint scanners, or even a Bluetooth connection. The doors can also be applied in situations where there are additional security, safety, or energy-efficiency demands.
- High thermal performance, up to Passive House levels
- Single locks or multipoint locks
- Reduced threshold or zero threshold, drainage gutter possible
Balcony door – create a healthy indoor environment
Balcony doors (also known as balcony windows) are not your typical glazed door solution. They tilt and turn open to let in a fresh breath of air and they bring in daylight, just like a window. This hybrid aluminium solution only allows for inward opening and is often combined with a glass balustrade for added safety in high-rise buildings. Handles are only featured on the inside and the locking is located around the perimeter of the "door".
- Only inward (turn-and-tilt) opening possible
- Concealed hinges (only for MasterLine 8 and SlimLine 38) or visible hinges
- Reduced threshold
Terrace door – for (not so) perfect summer days
Terrace doors help you make the best use out of your sunny patio or terrace area by granting worry-free access. But when the weather turns bad, you and your visitors should be able to return safely inside. That is why standard terrace doors feature handles and optional door locks on both sides, which distinguishes them from the similar balcony door solutions. They are also suited for high-rise buildings, offering perfect weather performance and a reduced threshold entry.
- Inward or outward opening possible, handles on both sides
- Concealed hinges (only for MasterLine 8 and SlimLine 38) or visible hinges
- Locking around the perimeter of the door
Swing door – suited for the most severe use
In some projects, you might need a sturdy, easy-access solution for very intense use in both entering and leaving the building. A swing door is such a dedicated solution. Often featured in pairs, these glazed doors open in two directions and are an ideal match for public buildings such as shops, schools, or hospitals. While their thermal and weather performance is generally low, swing doors offer improved peace of mind, with standard burglar-proof, anti-panic, and anti-finger trap features.
- Push-and-pull bar handles on the inside and outside for frequent access
- Mostly single point locks, multipoint lock optional
- Available in ConceptSystem 59Pa, Vision 7, ConceptDoor 68

Opening types
Do you know in which direction your new door needs to open? This is another important point to consider when choosing your entryway. For example, typical residential front doors open inwards to let people in, while the main entrances of shops often turn outwards. What is more, we already mentioned that swing doors turn both inwards and outwards. You see, there are plenty of ways to open your building to the world. Let us highlight some of our more specific solutions.
Pivot door – opening new possibilities
Make an astonishing first impression with the help of Reynaers Aluminium pivot door solutions. These stylish residential entrance doors turn on a single axis point – available at different positionings, inward or outward opening – to create a unique eyecatcher in any contemporary building project. Choose between a glazed or panel variant, one opening leaf or multiple, many design variants for the handles (both inside and outside), … The choice is yours.
- Eye-catching pivoting design for ground floor entrances
- Synchronised locking on the left and right side
- Large dimensions up to 3m and 200kg for standard door, or 4m and 500kg for XL pivot door (only MasterLine 8)
Automatic doors – a safe sliding solution
Automatic sliding doors are mostly featured as pairs in public buildings. The vents open sideways when they detect movement, granting easy access in an instant. At the same time, since automatic doors only open for a limited amount of time, they help limit the loss of indoor temperatures during winter – and vice versa, in summer, they prevent hot air from entering your building.
- Swift access to and egress from public and commercial buildings
- Anti-burglary and anti-panic elements as standard features
- Available in ConceptSystem 59Pa, ConceptSystem 77, MasterLine 8 (in development)
Since sliding doors aim to offer quick and easy access, they open and close automatically and much faster than sliding windows. However, sturdy sliding windows meet much higher thermal demands than nimble sliding doors. Depending on your project, there are advantages to choosing either solution.
All about aesthetics
In the end, you should not forget about your personal taste, of course. Doors are the perfect way to add your unique touch to any building project. Do you like a minimalistic, ultra-slim design with hidden hinges? Or do you prefer more robust entryways, with cubic detailing and a shimmering door pull? The options are endless to make it your own. But perhaps the most apparent design choice you can make, is the following: panel door or glazed door?
Panel door – a strong and safe solution
Panel doors are usually not that hard to recognise. Their opaque aluminium panel – with optional looking glass – offers a sturdy solution that is often used as an elegant and safe front door. Combined with a push bar, they can also serve as an emergency evacuation solution in public buildings such as schools or hospitals. What is more, panel doors offer higher thermal performance levels than their glazed counterparts. For instance, our MasterLine 8-HI+ panel door has been Passive House Component Certified, offering excellent comfort conditions all year long.
- Thermal performance up to passive certified level
- Single and double inward or outward opening, also as pivot door
- Single or multipoint locks, optionally remotely operated via Bluetooth
You see, there are a lot of ways you can optimise your new-build or renovation project. Whatever your goals may be, with Reynaers Aluminium, you always enjoy safe, sustainable, and high-quality door solutions that open an unlimited range of possibilities.
